As well as the 37 staff who took part in the opening ceremony, several staff at Guy’s and St Thomas’ volunteered to take part in the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Transformation project manager Carolyn Norgate, and assistant service manager for occupational therapy and speech and language therapy Vivien Peters were two of the 800 marshals for the athletes. “We were the people in the blue outfits standing on the edge of the areas the athletes were in to form a 'human fence' around them to keep them safe while the cars and scooters were whizzing about!” said Carolyn. “We were also there to create good visual effects. It was a fantastic evening, I loved every minute. As Mo Farah came out I did a mobot for him!”
