Brain cancer

Neuro oncology clinic

This clinic is for patients having treatment for brain and spine tumours.

We'll see you in this clinic if you:

  • have recently had surgery to diagnose your cancer
  • are having chemotherapy

If you're having radiotherapy only or radiotherapy with chemotherapy, you'll see the neuro-oncology advanced practice radiographer in the radiotherapy clinic, level R on a Wednesday. They will be able to advise and monitor any side effects from your treatment. They will also be able to prescribe and advise on your medication.

The Thursday clinic is run by our consultant oncologists. You may also see:

  • registrars (senior doctors)
  • neurologists (doctors specialising in the nervous system)
  • nurse specialists
  • neuro-oncology advanced practice radiographer
  • allied health professionals (AHPs)
  • research team

Joint neuro oncology clinic

You'll be given an appointment at this clinic when you're referred to the brain cancer service.

This clinic is also for follow-up appointments and imaging if you have finished your treatment.

Teenage and young adult clinic

This clinic is for teenagers and young adults aged 17 to 24.

You'll have your first appointment and follow-ups at this clinic.

Low grade glioma clinic

If we think you have low grade glioma, a type of brain tumour, we'll make an appointment for you at this clinic.

Pre-assessment clinic

If you're suitable for a biopsy or surgical resection, we'll make an appointment at this clinic.

Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) clinic

If you're suitable for stereotactic radiosurgery, radiation therapy that gives a strong dose of radiation to a small area, we'll make an appointment for you at this clinic.
