Getting the right information at the right time and knowing what support is available to you, can help make coping with cancer a little easier.
The Dimbleby Cancer Care information centre is staffed by experienced cancer nurse specialists who are available to meet with you as well as your carers, family and friends. We provide a drop-in service although appointments can be made if you are visiting the hospital and want to meet with the information nurse specialists at the same time.
We are here for you if you need to talk things through with someone, as well as to provide information and advice about a range of issues such as:
- cancer awareness and prevention
- different cancers and treatments
- clinical trials
- managing symptoms and side effects
- work issues
- benefits and grants
- travel and holiday insurance
- national and local support organisations and charities
- support for carers
- talking to children about a cancer diagnosis
- palliative care.
We can also refer patients and carers on to other services if required.
We have a large range of leaflets as well as DVDs and easy read materials. Searching the internet about cancer can sometimes be frightening and confusing and we are happy to carry out searches for you or recommend websites to visit.
