Appointments

Children’s dermatology

How to get an appointment

We accept referrals from your child's:

  • GP
  • consultant

Changing or cancelling your appointment

Please let us know if your child is unable to make their appointment.

Before your appointment

Please bring a list of:

  • treatments your child has used or is currently using
  • medicines your child takes

During your appointment

Please arrive no more than 30 minutes before your child's appointment.

If you do not come to the appointment and do not let us know, we may discharge you back to your GP.

Your child will see a doctor at their first visit. How long the appointment lasts will depend on the type of appointment your child has.

Your child may need investigations or photographs taken of their condition. We'll explain these to you during your appointment.

For follow-up appointments, your child may see one of our nursing team.

The same doctor will try to see your child at their follow-up appointments, however this is not always possible.

As we are a teaching hospital, students may be at your child's appointment. We'll ask you if you are happy with this.

After your appointment

We'll send you a letter with details about what happened at your child's appointment and their treatment plan.

We send a copy of this letter to your child's GP and to any other health professionals involved in their care.

If we need to see your child again, the doctor will arrange a follow-up appointment.

If you have any concerns about your child's condition, please contact our clinical nurse specialists (CNS).
