Biography

Roger Wong is a consultant ophthalmic (eye) and vitreoretinal surgeon. He is an honorary senior lecturer and lead clinician for King's College ophthalmology students at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He is fluent in English, Japanese and Chinese.

Roger has pioneered new techniques and services to treat vitreoretinal conditions, including setting up the nurse-led intravitreal injection service at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

He is currently investigating new instruments to improve the safety and effectiveness of vitreoretinal procedures.

He is regularly invited to speak at international conferences and is involved with the Lifeline Express Charity's work in China, where he provides his professional expertise to eye departments in rural China.
