Biography

Catherine Nelson-Piercy cares for people with medical problems in pregnancy. She offers pre-pregnancy counselling for people with pre-existing medical problems and people with problems in previous pregnancies. 

She runs clinics for pregnant people with:

  • kidney disease
  • heart disorders
  • rheumatic disorders
  • hypertension
  • epilepsy

In 2010 she became a professor of obstretic medicine at King's College London

She is the immediate past president of the International Society of Obstetric Medicine.

She is editor in chief of the journal 'Obstetric Medicine: the medicine of pregnancy'.

She has been one of the central assessors for the confidential enquiry into maternal deaths in the UK since 2005 and is a trustee for the Action on Pre-eclampsia (APEC) charity.

Catherine is the lead developer of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists green-top guideline on reducing the risk of thromboembolism during pregnancy, birth and the puerperium.
