Gastroenterology and hepatology service referrals

Offering a wide range of services for gastrointestinal disorders

Referral contact

We accept referrals from GPs, internal referrals or another hospital doctor for any gastrointestinal condition.

Email gst-tr.gastroenterologyreferrals@nhs.net.

Routine referrals

All referrals including enquiries regarding new appointments should be directed to the patient access team. Please identify the speciality you are referring to rather than the specific surgeon.

The patient will receive the first available appointment in the most appropriate clinic.

  • NHS GP referrals

All NHS GP referrals must be submitted through the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). Referrals sent by email or post from NHS GPs will not be processed.

Should you require advice about a patient, please use the advice and guidance facility through e-RS.

  • Non GP and tertiary referrals

Please email your referral to gst-tr.gastroenterologyreferrals@nhs.net.

To help us book your patient into the most appropriate clinic, please provide as much information as possible. We may contact the patient before offering an appointment to make sure they're seen at the most suitable clinic.

Referrals from other hospitals must include a completed Inter-Provider Minimum Data Set or ensure that one is sent within 48 hours of referring a patient.

Home parenteral referrals

Please complete the home parenteral nutrition referral form (Word 59Kb) and email it to GSTTNutrition@gstt.nhs.uk.

Urgent referrals
