Overview

Rapid diagnostic clinic (concern for cancer)

At the rapid diagnostic clinic we see people who have vague but concerning symptoms that may be due to cancer.

Your GP will refer you if they suspect your symptoms may be due to cancer. GPs refer people to the rapid diagnostic clinic when they do not fit the referral criteria for our cancer service, or other specialist services.

We make sure everyone with suspected cancer has the tests they need at the right time in as few visits as possible.

All referrals are read by a clinician to check they are suitable for the service. If we accept your referral we'll contact you to arrange an appointment. If we think your referral is best suited to another team we may redirect you.

Our team includes:

  • consultants
  • general practitioners
  • advanced nurse practitioners
  • clinical support assistants
  • administration staff

Our consultants

Juliet Millwaters (GP and clinical lead)

Vera Salvado (consultant internal medicine)

Research and clinical trials

Research is vital to improving the care that you receive when you're unwell. You can help improve healthcare by taking part in research studies at our Trust. During your appointment, ask your healthcare professional about research. They'll be happy to tell you about research studies you could be eligible to join.
