How to get an appointment

Your GP or other specialist doctor can refer you to our outpatient toxicology clinic.

We'll contact you to arrange an appointment. This might be a face to face appointment or by telephone.

Changing your appointment

You can change or cancel your appointment by phone or email:

During your appointment

You'll see a doctor at the outpatient toxicology clinic.

Professor Paul Dargan and Dr David Wood run the clinic. They'll see you themselves or discuss your case with the doctor who does.

The doctor will:

  • take a detailed history
  • examine you
  • arrange any tests you need, such as blood tests, x-rays and scans. You may have these done on the same day or at a separate visit

Your appointment can last up to 90 minutes.

After your appointment

We'll write to your doctor with a summary of the appointment. This will say if you need any more investigations or treatment.

You'll also be sent a copy of this letter.
