Referrals

Routine and general referrals

We provide advice and guidance for all NHS GPs, which can be used for communicating results for treatment advice.

Requests for advice and guidance must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS).

For HIV positive diagnoses in the community, please call 07562 171988 to refer to our hospital services.

We only accept referrals for these specialist clinics. Patients need to self-refer for all other services.

Psychosexual therapy

We accept referrals from all London borough GPs for:

  • erectile dysfunction
  • premature or retarded ejaculation
  • reduced or increased libido
  • intractable genital pain
  • anorgasmia
  • vaginismus and pelvic pain with no identifiable cause

Complex long acting reversible contraception

We accept referrals from all London borough GPs for:

  • removal of deep and impalpable implants
  • complex contraception UK Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use (UKMEC) 3 or 4
  • difficult or previously failed intrauterine device/system (IUD/IUS) insertion
  • TV USS for localisation of IUD/IUS
  • lost threads and IUD/IUS removals

We do not accept referrals for IUS insertion for endometrial protection and heavy menstrual bleeding unless contraception is required.

Genital dermatology

We only accept referrals from Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham GPs for genital dermatoses, including:

  • balanitis
  • eczema
  • lichen planus
  • lichen sclerosus
  • lichen simplex
  • psoriasis
  • vulvitis

Female referral clinic

We accept referrals from all London borough GPs for:

  • recurrent candida
  • recurrent bacterial vaginosis (BV)
  • continued vaginal discharge without proven cause
  • complex candida infections (immunosuppression diabetes, pregnancy)
  • refractory/recurrent trichomoniasis vaginalis (TV)
  • vulval pain

Complex infection clinic

We accept referrals from all London borough GPs for:

  • STI in pregnancy
  • management of non-standard STIs (such as mycoplasma genitalium)
  • persistent urethritis and persistent proctitis
  • drug resistant STIs
  • atypical genital symptoms

Emergency referrals

If there is an urgent need to see your patient who has symptoms, we can offer an appointment the same or the next day. Please call 020 7188 6666.
