Coronavirus: research appointments update
In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we are asking you not to attend any face to face research related appointments, unless you have been advised otherwise by your research team. Where appropriate our research teams will contact you to conduct research follow up by telephone.
Clinical research
The Government wants to see a dramatic improvement in the time it takes NHS trusts to set up research studies and recruit patients into these studies. This is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to take part in research.
This is also intended to make the UK a more attractive place to undertake research.
Initiating clinical research
In line with National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) guidance, we report on the time it takes to set up a clinical trial at Guy's and St Thomas'. This is measured from when we receive a valid research application to when the first patient is recruited into the trial.

Recruiting patients on time and to target
We also have to report on how well we are doing at recruiting the right number of patients for each study within an agreed time period.
