Reusing walking aids
We are reducing waste and improving access to equipment by reusing walking aids such as crutches and walking sticks.
If you no longer need your crutches or metal walking stick, please return them so they can help another patient.
We have blue collection bins at:
- Guy's Hospital, main entrance
- St Thomas' Hospital, Lambeth Wing entrance
- Royal Brompton Hospital, Sydney Street, main entrance
- Harefield Hospital, main entrance
- Whittington Centre, reception
- Pulross Centre, reception
- Townley Road Clinic, reception
If you cannot visit one of our sites, please visit a recycling point near you.
You can return:
- crutches
- metal walking sticks
You cannot return:
- zimmer frames
- wooden walking sticks
- personal equipment, such as commodes
We check, clean and repair returned walking aids before we give them to other patients.
Reusing walking aids:
- reduces waste
- lowers carbon emissions
- helps us use NHS resources more efficiently
