Young people under 18

You can sign in to MyChart using the same login details you use for the NHS App. This means you do not need to remember another username and password, and getting started with MyChart is quicker.

Read more about NHS login

Other ways to log in are still available. If you're unable to or would prefer not to use NHS login, you can still sign in or create a MyChart account in the usual ways.

Parents and carers of under 18s can use NHS login should still talk to their child's healthcare team about managing shared access to their account.

Staff might send you an activation code to set up an account.

Open this link in your browser and enter the code: MyChart - Sign up for MyChart

Or, if you've downloaded the app, open MyChart and follow the prompts.

Biometrics let you log into apps on Apple and Android using your unique traits such as your fingerprint or face recognition instead of passwords. They are secure ways to log in to MyChart, and convenient if you don't like having to remember a username and password.

First, you must set up your fingerprint, face, or iris in your phone's main security settings.

Once this is set up on your device, the MyChart app should prompt you to set up your preferred way of logging in.

You can also visit your MyChart account settings to set this up or change at any point.

If you need more help, please follow these instructions

When your test result is ready, it will be added to your MyChart account. This might take a few days or sometimes weeks, depending on the type of test.

Some test results need to be discussed before they are shared, and some results are never shared on MyChart.

If you feel you've been waiting too long, please contact the service your appointment was with.

Read more information about test results and when you'll receive them.

If you are a parent or carer of a child or young person under 18, please speak to your child’s healthcare team at their next appointment to request a MyChart account.

Please note the MyChart helpdesk is not able to set up access. You must speak to your child's healthcare team.

Read information for parents and carers.

A patient can choose to give a person they trust access to their MyChart account. This person can log in to MyChart with their own details, but see the patient's information. This is called 'proxy access'.

Remember that shared access for parents and carers of under 18s is set up by asking their healthcare team.

If someone wants to manage an adult patient's care using MyChart, they should sign in to MyChart with their NHS login to create their own account. Then the patient can share access to their account by following our instructions.

I'm a patient

MyChart does not show any historical records from before October 2023, when the app launched. You'll start seeing appointments, notes and information in the app as you have your care with us.

I'm setting up my own access to a patient's account

If you create an account but cannot see any information, check that the patient has shared access with you. You should receive an email and will need to follow the instructions to complete setup.

If you've done this but you still cannot see any information, you might have used MyChart before and the issue is being caused by NHS login creating a second account. Try logging in with your usual MyChart details again. If this fixes the problem, continue to use your MyChart details to sign in (and not NHS login).

If you still have problems, please speak to the patient's healthcare team.
