Overview

Cardiovascular rehabilitation

We provide a service for people who have recently had a cardiovascular event. This service is for Southwark or Lambeth residents.

We usually see patients on the ward following a heart attack. We provide recovery advice and guidance.

We'll monitor your recovery, and continue to offer advice and support when you are at home.

Following an assessment, and if appropriate, we'll invite you to an 8-week rehabilitation programme. This may be face-to-face or remote.

The programme aims to help you manage your condition and increase your physical activity. It focusses on exercise and includes education on heart health and relaxation. It's an opportunity to get support and learn how to look after your health in the future.

You'll be supported by:

  • nurses
  • exercise specialists

We'll refer you to other services in our hospital if you need it, such as:

  • talking therapies
  • our stop smoking team
  • dieticians

Research and clinical trials

Research is vital to improving the care that you receive when you're unwell. You can help improve healthcare by taking part in research studies at our Trust. During your appointment, ask your healthcare professional about research. They'll be happy to tell you about research studies you could be eligible to join.

You can also email [email protected] for more information.
