Rapid access chest pain clinic

Assessment service for people with chest pain

The rapid access chest pain clinic (RACPC) provides a specialist service for people who present to their GP with symptoms that suggest new onset angina. We aim to see all patients within two weeks of being referred.

The clinic is run by cardiology nurse specialists and is supported by Professor Marber, consultant cardiologist, and by cardiac physiologists who perform and analyse the cardiac tests.

The service:

  • provides prompt specialist assessment for suspected angina
  • initiates treatment to relieve symptoms and reduce risk
  • provides information on treatment options available regarding the diagnosis
  • provides information about modifiable risk factors.
