Patient initiated follow-up (PIFU) appointments

Community foot health (podiatry)

If it's available for you, we'll ask if you want to be added to our list for patient initiated follow-up (PIFU) appointments.

This allows you to decide if you need to see us again after we have discharged you from our service within an agreed time frame.

Booking a follow-up appointment

If you're on our PIFU appointment list, please contact us if you're symptoms get worse.

Symptoms and reasons to book a follow-up appointment are:

  • pain not improving within expected time frame as discussed in consultation
  • your symptoms return and previous agreed treatments are not working
  • you need further advice on the exercises we have given you or any activities, or goals not achieved
  • if you need to discuss different treatment options or being referred to another service

When you contact us about a follow-up appointment, we'll offer an appointment as appropriate.

Please contact your GP if you're feeling unwell, have had any new injuries or have severe pain that stops you sleeping.
