Overview

Gait laboratory

Gait analysis is an assessment of how you walk.

Our gait laboratory at Guy's Hospital is an internationally-renowned centre.

At a gait analysis appointment, we record your movements while you walk using specialist equipment. We use this information to create a 3D computer model of your legs.

We also measure how flexible your legs are by moving them.

We may also take pictures of your muscles using an ultrasound scan.

Upper limb movement analysis is the assessment of how you move your arms and hands.

We use the results to give advice on treatments.

Research and clinical trials

Research is vital to improving the care that you receive when you're unwell. You can help improve healthcare by taking part in research studies at our Trust. During your appointment, ask your healthcare professional about research. They'll be happy to tell you about research studies you could be eligible to join.
