Launch of new tier 2 Lambeth adult weight management service

Lambeth council has commissioned a new weight management service that launched on 1 April 2019.

The aim of the new service is to provide a tier 2, evidence-based weight management intervention for adult residents in Lambeth (and/or those registered with a Lambeth GP), to achieve and maintain healthy weight.
The new service consists of a 12-week group-based intervention comprising weekly face-to-face diet and nutrition advice and physical activity sessions alongside additional motivational support. The intervention is then followed by a comprehensive exit-programme aimed at sustaining the user’s lifestyle improvement gains.

The referral criteria for the new service is:

  • adults (aged 18 or over) with a BMI between 30-35kg/m2 and who have one or more obesity related co-morbidity 
  • BAME adults (aged 18 or over) with a BMI of 27.5kg/m2 and who have one or more obesity related co-morbidity
  • adults (aged 18 or over) with a BMI of between 35-39.9kg/m2.

How to make a referral

Referrals will only be accepted from GPs and via email using the tier 2 referral form (Word 62Kb).
