Coronavirus update: pre-implantation genetic diagnosis service

With effect from Monday 16 March, the pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) service across clinical genetics and the Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) will be significantly reducing activity levels in response to the current COVID-19 outbreak. This decision has been taken in line with national guidance, and supports the wider organisational efforts to respond to current challenges.

Referrals

With immediate effect, no new referrals will be accepted in to the PGD service. This applies to all NHS funded patients and those who are either self-funded or private referrals. Any new referrals received will be added to a waiting list and will be appointed in line with treatment access policy guidelines when capacity becomes available.

New patients

Existing new patient (NP) appointments will be given the choice of cancellation or telephone appointments. No new NP appointments will be booked beyond Monday 30 March.

Existing patients

For patients currently receiving treatment, there will be some delay but we will try to keep you updated and will be available to discuss any concerns on a case by case basis.
