Welcome to the Antenatal Ward, which cares for women who need to stay in hospital due to complications with their pregnancy.

Information for visitors
Your care on the postnatal ward
A consultant or his/her team will see you each day during their ward rounds, which generally start at 9am. This will not necessarily be the consultant you were allocated at the time of booking. You will be given a named midwife at the start of every shift. Shifts run from 7.45am-8.15pm and 7.45pm-8.15am.
A resident pharmacist and physiotherapist come to the ward each day. If you have any questions or problems, please talk to your midwife. If she/he is unable to help, ask the midwife in charge that day. All staff caring for you will introduce themselves to you and will be wearing an ID badge.
- Breakfast starts at 8.15am.
- Lunch starts at 12 noon.
- Dinner starts at 6pm.
- We have a `protected mealtime’ policy between 12 noon to 12.30pm and 6pm to 6.30pm so you can eat without being interrupted.
- Hot drinks are available at all times from the tea trolley which is stored in the day room. This is free for patients, but we ask visitors to make a small donation. Water is also available in the kitchenette.
Meals are served in the day room. If you are on bedrest, your meal will be brought to your bedside. You can choose your meals on the day from a variety of food options.

Facilities on the ward
There is a day room for you and your visitors to use. Please respect the area and keep it clean. We hold daily breastfeeding information classes in the day room and run parent education classes on Thursdays, unless we are short staffed.
The Hospedia (formerly patientline) service by your bed offers a radio that you can use for free and a television, which you have to pay for. It also offers a telephone.
