Edward Ward is an 18 bedded specialist medical inpatient ward (with side rooms), which looks after both male and female patients admitted via the emergency care pathway, tertiary centres and clinics as well as patients who no longer need critical care.
Due to planned engineering and refurbishment works, Hillyers ward (located on the 12th floor, North Wing) has now closed. All patients from Hillyers Ward have now been moved to Edward ward.
As the infectious diseases base for the Trust, we frequently manage patients from a variety of specialities, including haematology, oncology, dermatology, care of the elderly, gastroenterology, toxicology, palliative, surgical, rheumatology, neurology, opthamology and others as dictated by the need for isolation and specialist input.
In addition, we are the base for the HIV team when inpatient care is required.
Our focus is always to provide the best possible care, and our team values reflect those of the Trust.
