How to access our service
New patients must have a referral by a qualified health care professional, for example a doctor, nurse, physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
Existing patients can self-refer or be referred by their carer for a review via telephone.
If you have not received an appointment, please call us on 020 3049 7760.

Cancelling or changing your appointment
If you need to change or cancel your appointment for any reason, please call us on 020 3049 7760. Please tell us as soon as possible, so that we can offer your appointment to another patient.
-
Before your appointment
Please check your appointment letter for details of your appointment, including anything that you might need to bring with you.
-
What to expect at your appointment
The appointment is to assess your wheelchair and postural seating needs, and to identify what equipment you might need.
During the appointment you may be asked to transfer onto one of our beds so that we can assess your posture. You will be supported through this at all times but if you have any concerns about this, please let us know beforehand.
The appointment is likely to take at least one hour, possibly longer depending on your needs, so you may want to bring drinks and snacks with you. If you use a sling, please bring this along to your appointment. You may also want to consider bringing a change of clothing.
-
After your appointment
Following your assessment, either equipment to meet your needs will be ordered or you will be asked to attend a follow-up appointment to try the equipment.
Orders can take up to 12 weeks to arrive, and once the equipment is in stock, a handover appointment will be arranged.

Support groups
At the Bowley Close rehabilitation centre, we host a quarterly meeting which is open to everyone, known as the Rehabilitation User Network Group (RUNG).
It is also an opportunity for patients to see how the service is performing, and to be involved in the development of the service and patient survey action plans.
RUNG is supported by a quarterly wheelchair and assistive technology group meeting, which is open to all of our patients. Please contact us on the number at the top of this page if you would like to find out more.
