Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is working in partnership with DrDoctor to offer an online, smartphone and advanced text messaging service, which is designed to make it easier for you to manage your appointments at our hospitals and clinics.
Reminders by text or email
If we have your mobile number, DrDoctor will send you text reminder messages about your appointments and you will also be able to reschedule your appointment. We can also send your appointment reminders by email.
If you would like to receive appointment letters, appointment confirmation and reminders by email, please add your email to the Dr Doctor portal.
'See me sooner'
Depending on the service, you may be invited to change your appointment or make new appointments via SMS (text). These features allow you to pick an appointment time that suits your schedule.
Some services allow you to request appointment changes. If your service is included, you will receive an appointment notification via text. To request a change, text 'CHANGE' as per the text prompts and either indicate why you're unable to make the scheduled appointment or select another available date and time. Please note that all requested changes are pending review and you will be notified via SMS about the status of your request.
Some services allow you to self-book your appointments. If your service is included, you will receive an invitation via text to choose an available slot. Select a slot that works for you as per the text prompts.
Some services include 'see me sooner', which offers appointments available at short notice. You will be invited to 'see me sooner' by text the day after you have booked your appointment. To opt in, text back 'START' as per the text prompts. 'See me sooner' is first come, first served, so if you see an available slot that you would like to take, please text back as soon as possible.
Depending on the service, you may be asked to complete a pre-clinic, post-clinic, and follow-up needs assessment form online.
If your service is included and we have your mobile number, you will receive an SMS asking you to complete an assessment form. The form links to the DrDoctor patient portal, where you will be prompted to sign in using your location details. We require this information as a security measure to make sure your health information stays secure and that the right patients have access to the right forms.
The information captured via the online assessments will help your clinical team decide on an appropriate treatment plan.
To allow us to deliver our services, DrDoctor will have access to your contact information but not to detailed information about your health.
Please make sure we have the right contact details for you. You can check or make changes to your details online, by calling or emailing us, or at reception on your next visit to the hospital.
