Care awardsCourtesey, Attitude, Respect and Enthusiasm

The CARE awards is a monthly scheme designed to recognise our teams and individuals who have:

  • made substantial contributions to the quality of care provided to patients

  • delivered exceptional levels of work performance or delivered increased benefits to the Trust

  • gone the 'extra mile' or 'beyond the call of duty' to provide an exceptional service for staff and/or patients

  • exemplified our core values.

Who can be nominated?

The awards are open to both volunteers and staff working behind the scenes, those in support functions or non-clinical roles and those working in the front line. Nominations can be made either for an outstanding individual or for a team who has made a special contribution.

How to nominate

Staff and volunteers can be nominated by their colleagues, patients and visitors.

You can nominate by using the the CARE awards leaflet (PDF 123Kb), which also contains more information about the awards or by using the online form.

Please email Rosie Hanratty at if you have any questions about the scheme.

Dr Daniel Tweedie, ENT consultant

Daniel Tweedie
Daniel is a children's ENT consultant. He was nominated by the parent of a little boy who had been under his care for many years. She said in her nomination:

"I used to have to drag my son to his appointments then along came Daniel and everything changed. His relaxed, friendly, caring manner put us immediately at ease.

"He is genuinely kind and good-natured and has a way of explaining technical terms in layman terms without patronising either parent or patient."
