Referrals

Making a referral

We accept referrals from secondary care services only.

GP referrals

We do not accept referrals from GPs.

If you're concerned your patient has evidence of exertional desaturation and they are not managed by a hospital team, please refer to the medical clinic that manages their condition. They will be able to liaise with us.

Referral criteria

Usually patients should be medically optimised and stable for 6 weeks before assessment, however we will consider urgent cases.

There should be evidence of desaturation on exertion to below 90%.

We do not see people who smoke or vape.

We see patients who are registered with a GP in Lambeth and Southwark, however we will see patients from other boroughs if local services are not available.

If you're unsure, please contact us before referring.

Urgent referrals

Please contact us to discuss urgent patients.

We usually consider the following to require an urgent assessment:

  • desaturation to 80% or less on exertion
  • palliative referrals with guarded prognosis to optimise quality of life
  • acute deterioration in functional ability
