Referrals

GP referrals

All NHS GP referrals must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). Referrals sent by email or post from NHS GPs will not be processed.

Non-GP referrals

Please email the relevant service to make a referral.

Two-week wait (2WW) referrals

GPs must use the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). Other healthcare professionals can email a referral to [email protected].

Emergency referrals

Please email the relevant service to make a referral.

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) referrals

Please complete the referral form and email it to us.. We only accept referral forms from consultants.

Advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) referrals

We accept referrals from respiratory consultants working in:

  • south London
  • Kent
  • Surrey
  • Sussex

To make a referral, please email us:

  • a completed advanced COPD referral form
  • recent pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, gas transfer and lung volumes
  • a recent echocardiogram
  • arterial blood gas (ABG) test results, if available
  • 6 minute walk test (6MWT) results, if available

Please transfer any images to us using the image exchange portal.

We accept referrals from patients who:

  • have emphysema on their CT scan
  • have obstructive spirometry, forced expiratory volume (FEV1) of 15% to 50%
  • have a total lung capacity (TLC) of less than 100%
  • have a residual volume (RV) of less than 180%
  • are 3 to 4 on the Medical Research Council (MRC) breathlessness scale
  • are an ex-smoker
  • have completed pulmonary rehabilitation in last 12 months

We do not accept referrals for patients with:

  • significant pulmonary hypertension
  • long-term oxygen therapy more than 4 litres
  • recurrent infection exacerbations
  • sputum volume of more than 60 mililitres a day
  • significant bronchiectasis
