MyChart, our app for patients and carers

While implementing MyChart, we committed to meeting the unique needs of patients and people using our services.

We commissioned an expert, independent accessibility review in 2023 for compliance with web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The report found that MyChart achieved partial compliance and is of a good standard, when compared with others of similar complexity. There were fewer issues than average and all areas that were not compliant with WCAG 2.1 have undergone development, with further work planned for enhancing accessibility and user experiences on the app. We also prioritised reaching a good level of accessibility for After Visit Summary PDFs used in MyChart.

To support users' experience and understanding on the app, we reviewed every screen for clear and easy-to-understand language. The changes we recommended are based on evidenced best practice, and are gradually being incorporated into our version of MyChart.

We've tested and co-designed our version of MyChart thoroughly for the benefit of our patients. Our patient panel involved more than 50 patients, carers and members of our local populations in the design and delivery of MyChart. Their recommendations, experiences and concerns informed the development of the app, as well as processes to ensure digital inclusion.

We remain committed to improving the accessibility and experience of MyChart in future versions. If you have any feedback, please email [email protected]

Digital inclusion

At Guy's and St Thomas', we are committed to making sure that people who are unable to use, or who choose not to use, digital services are not placed at a disadvantage.

Digital inclusion involves:

  • digital skills: being able to use digital devices (such as computers or smartphones) and the internet
  • connectivity: access to the internet through broadband, wi-fi and mobile
  • accessibility: services need to be designed to meet the needs of all users, including those dependent on assistive technology to access digital services

Support with digital services

Some patients, carers and family members have barriers that stop them from accessing our digital services.
