How to get an appointment

Your dentist, GP or hospital doctor can refer you.

Changing or cancelling your appointment

Please call us to change or cancel your appointment.

Before your appointment

Please make sure you have a list of any medicines you take.

A friend or relative can attend your appointment for support. They can help you remember the information you are given.

Write down questions you want to ask before your appointment. Start with the most important and make sure you or the person with you notes the answers.

If you do not understand anything you've been told, please ask the doctor or nurse to explain them again. They will be happy to do this.

During your appointment

At your first appointment, you'll see a head and neck surgeon. You'll also meet your nurse specialist. They'll support you and your family throughout treatment and recovery.

We'll do any tests and scans you need. These may include:

You may also need to have blood tests after the appointment. We'll arrange these.

After your appointment

We'll send you and your GP a letter. This will say what happened at the appointment and your treatment plan.

We want you to feel involved in decisions about your care. We are happy to answer any questions you have. You can call your nurse specialist on 020 7188 0802 if you have any concerns or questions.
