Healthy weight programmes

The Southwark healthy weight programme is a 12-week, healthy weight, group programme. It aims for sustained weight loss or reduced waist circumference by making healthy lifestyle changes.

This programme is for:

  • adults living in Southwark or registered with a GP in Southwark
  • adults from a White background with a body mass index (BMI) above 30
  • adults from a non-White background with a body mass index (BMI) above 27.5

Your GP or health professional can refer you.

Before you start the programme

You'll have a video appointment before you start your group sessions. At your appointment you'll discuss your goals and any needs you may have.

During the programme

Your session will be:

To attend online, you'll need access to the internet and a device such as a laptop or iPad with video and microphone. Your appointment letter will tell you how to join your video session.

You'll take part in weekly group sessions for 12 weeks. Each session lasts 1 hour. You can choose weekday or evening groups.

We will offer advice about:

  • nutrition
  • making lifestyle changes
  • using behaviour change techniques
  • physical activity

After completing the programme

We'll call you to discuss your progress and plans.
