Royal Brompton Hospital

Our organisation

Royal Brompton is our world-famous specialist heart and lung hospital. Located in Chelsea, west London, Royal Brompton works closely with St Thomas’, Evelina London and Harefield hospitals to lead one of the most advanced heart and lung centres in the world. Patients receiving care here are in the hands of some of the most experienced teams in the UK and beyond.

We’re home to Europe’s largest centre for the treatment and management of cystic fibrosis, and we care for people living with asthma, chronic lung conditions, and other complex respiratory needs. Our teams provide expert care, through diagnosis, treatment and managing a long-term condition.

With 350 beds, Royal Brompton is a leader in adult specialist surgery, intensive care, respiratory medicine, cardiology, sleep medicine and ventilation. Our teams work together across a range of disciplines to provide joined-up care.

We’re also proud to provide children’s services at Royal Brompton Hospital, as part of Evelina London, including paediatric cardiology and surgery, respiratory and intensive care. This means children and young people can access specialist care in a setting designed for them, with family-centred support every step of the way.

Our state-of-the-art Diagnostic Centre, which opened in 2022, gives patients access to some of the most advanced imaging technology in the world, helping us diagnose and treat heart and lung conditions with speed, precision and confidence.
