Haematology services

Diagnosing and treating blood disorders

Clinical haematology

Haematology is a specialty covering the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders, from conditions such as iron deficiency through to leukaemia.

Your haematology appointment

You will be offered an appointment within six weeks of being referred. At the end of your visit, we aim to give you a diagnosis and discuss treatment options. For more information including clinic locations, please see the patients page.

The haematology centre

In a typical year, our haematology department deals with:

  • 13,500 outpatient visits to consultant-led clinics
  • 8,000 day unit attenders
  • 900 inpatient admissions

Our haematology centre was supported by a grant from Guy's & St Thomas' Charity. We offer services to patients from Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, as well as further afield for many of our specialist activities.
