Biography: since qualifying as a nurse in 1998, Marrika has specialised in cancer care. She has a diploma in clinical cancer from the Royal Marsden Hospital and has completed courses in advanced assessment skills and nursde prescribing. Marrika joined our team in 2008. Along with her colleagues, she runs a clinic for patients on oral targeted lung cancer treatments (TKIs). Her areas of expertise are lung cancer and thymic malignancy. 

Rachel Thomas

Biography: Rachel works as a mesothelioma/lung cancer clinical nurse specialist. She's undertaken a number of postgraduate courses in advanced assessment skills and nurse prescribing. As part of her clinical work, she also helps run a clinic for patients on oral targeted therapies for lung cancer.

Rachel runs a mesothelioma support group at Guy’s Hospital and represents the Trust and mesothelioma patients at the All Party Parliamentary Asbestos Sub-Committee. 

She currently serves on the National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses and represents lung cancer nurse specialists on the British Thoracic Committee.

Sara Hymas

Sara Hymas, lung cancer clinical nurse specialist

Biography: Sara worked previously at The Princess Alexandra NHS Trust in Harlow, Essex, as a lung cancer nurse specialist for over five years. Her nursing background is in community care and acute stroke care. 

Education and training: BSc in Specialist Palliative Care (2016) - Anglia Ruskin University, lung cancer care module (2011) - The Royal Marsden.

Specialist interests: lung cancer, thymoma, support, health and well-being, supporter of the Roy Castle Foundation.
