Research and innovation
As a leading centre of clinical research, with a history of innovation and medical firsts, we provide the latest and most advanced treatments. Together with our partners in King's Health Partners, we form one of the UK's 8 Academic Health Science Centres.
Through leading-edge technology and innovation, we're improving diagnosis, treatment and care to make healthcare smarter.
Our renowned experts and world class collaborations, particularly with King’s College London and Imperial College London, enable us to deliver research with local, regional, national and global impact.

Teaching and training
We open doors to meaningful careers and training, helping people from all backgrounds build fulfilling careers in health and care.
Our world-famous teaching hospitals train the doctors, nurses and health professionals of the future. GKT School of Medical Education, our medical school, and the Dental faculty are run jointly with King's College London and King's College Hospital. The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care is run jointly with King’s College London.
At any time, we can have over 500 doctors in training, 1,000 nursing and midwifery students in clinical placements and, over the course of the year, support 1,100 allied health professional students.

For administrative and management purposes only we operate our services in four clinical groups.
Each of our clinical groups has the staff (and budget) of a major hospital trust and each work across multiple sites.
This clinical group includes:

- integrated local services
- medical specialities
- specialist ambulatory services
- pharmacy and medicines optimisation
- therapies and rehabilitation
