About the low vision clinic

The low vision clinic at St Thomas' Hospital is for people with poor eyesight. We aim to help you make the most of your vision.

The clinic provides a bridge between the hospital, social services and charities that support visually impaired people.

What we do

We can:

  • check your glasses are correct
  • recommend suitable magnifiers and aids to vision
  • provide you with advice from our eye clinic liaison officer, who can refer you to other services if necessary
  • offer a taster of some of the high tech low vision aids and gadgetry available.

We also run the Living with Sight Lossc ourse with London Vision.

This two-day course includes information and advice on a range of topics from understanding welfare rights, staying independent, tips and gadgets for everyday living, eye health to hobbies and interests and other organisations and services that can support you. These courses are for adults of all ages, including friends, family members or anyone close to you.

We are proud of the extensive service our low vision clinic provides, thanks to over 20 years of support from hospital staff and dedicated volunteers.
