Patients are normally referred by other cardiologists or physicians to Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital for treatment of their cardiac condition using a structural intervention approach. These are normally patients who can not be treated at their local hospital or have complex cardiac conditions that require further specialist input.
All clinic appointments will comprise of a consultation with one of the various specialists where a full medical history and clinical examination will occur.
Investigations at the clinic visit could include:
- blood tests
- ECG (electrocardiogram)
- exercise stress test
- echocardiogram (ultrasound scan of the heart)
- spirometry (breathing tests)
- computed tomography scans (CT).
