Our research

Our hair and nail clinic specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of hair, scalp and nail disorders. We are highly research-active at international level: we have led the first large-scale genome-wide association study (GWAS) into the scarring and lichenoid inflammatory condition frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA). Our work has provided new insight into disease pathogenesis and guidance on treatments, which are presently being pursued via investigator-led studies.

We have also been selected as the lead UK site for a highly anticipated commercial clinical trial of a new drug in alopecia areata.

A number of molecular basic research projects are in the pipeline, and we aim to continue expanding our academic and research focus with the aim to translate scientific discovery to targeted and effective therapies.

I would definitely recommend taking part in research… new treatments need patient involvement and I wanted to help others in the future
