How to refer
All dermatology referrals from GPs in Southwark, excluding two week wait and urgent cases that require secondary care within 72 hours, will need to be referred through the NHS e-Referral service (eRS).
Please complete the referral form (word 43Kb). Please remember to choose the location, community and hospital your patient would like to be seen at. We will always do our best to choose a location that is close to your patient’s home. Once completed, please send the form to us via eRS.
Referrals will be triaged with one of the following outcomes.
- Referral is accepted and patient is seen by the community service within six weeks.
- If the patient can be managed in primary care then the referral is sent back to the GP with advice and guidance. We hope this will help build practitioner confidence and support management within primary care.
- If the referral is urgent or too complex, the community service will refer the patient to secondary care at their preferred provider.
The service provides treatment to children (aged 0-18) in the same clinic as adults.
Treatment Access Policy
Your referral may suggest that your patient’s skin condition falls outside the criteria and therefore will not be funded by south east London NHS. If your patient's referral does not comply with the Treatment Access Policy (TAP) (PDF 511Kb) we will regretfully return your patient’s referral.
