Coronavirus: ear, nose and throat (ENT) and head and neck (H&N) services
Due to increased demand on the hospital due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we are having to make significant changes to our services which may require cancellation of appointments.
We are attempting to contact all patients with a future scheduled appointment. In some cases we may be able to arrange a telephone or video consultation, where clinically appropriate.
Some appointments may be cancelled without a future date being arranged at this stage. If we cancel your appointment, you will remain on our waiting list and we will contact you in due course.
Some patients may be discharged back to their GP; if this is the case, we will write to you and, where relevant, our ENT doctors may be able to provide you with sources of further information and advice that you might find useful.
If you have not heard from us within three days of your scheduled appointment, or if you need to let us know of any changes to your contact details, please contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org (if you are unable to use email, please call us on 020 7188 8872. If you have already been referred to (or are already under the care of) the ENT department at Guy's and St Thomas' and need clinical advice before an outpatient appointment can be scheduled, please see below. As we are a very large team consisting of multiple subspecialties, it is important that you read the following carefully and choose the most appropriate option.
If you have not been referred to our ENT department but need urgent advice, you should consult your GP in the first instance. If necessary, your GP will be able to seek further advice from our ENT doctors.
We are doing everything we can to support GPs and your patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need advice from our clinical team please use the current advice and guidance channels including e-RS advice and guidance for written communication or Consultant Connect to speak to a senior clinician immediately.
We would encourage you to contact our clinical team for advice and guidance before making a referral. We are vetting all referrals. We will be contacting urgent patients but we are not currently booking routine patients and so there may be a significant delay before seeing your patient. Please consider this before making any referral as our capacity to see new patients is very limited.

Our ear, nose and throat (ENT) and head and neck (H&N) unit is one of the largest in the UK and provides the South East London Head and Neck Cancer Regional Centre.
We provide both inpatient and outpatient treatment, as well as emergency clinics for symptoms affecting the ear, nose or throat, together with a full range of audiological investigations and rehabilitation. This includes digital hearing aids, balance testing and hearing/tinnitus therapy.
