You can be referred to our service by your GP, consultant or from inpatient referrals.

Before your appointment
Please check your appointment letter to see if you need to bring anything with you. This might include your orange maternity folder, child’s health record (red book) or any current medications you are taking.

What to expect at your appointment
You will be seen either by one of the consultants or specialist registrars and if you are visiting the outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT) service, one of the nurses.
They will talk to you about your symptoms and may send you for diagnostic tests.

After your appointment
A letter will be sent to your GP detailing the outcome of the appointment and any tests and results.
