Medical physics provides scientific, technical and regulatory expertise to a wide range of clinical and support services across Guy's and St Thomas'.
We also supply specialised services to other hospitals and clinics, across London and nationally. We work closely with the King’s College London School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences to support research and education, and are a major training centre for our disciplines.
The following services are provided to external bodies:
- ionising and non-ionising radiation safety
- equipment repair and management
- calibration and device development
- nuclear medicine physics
- magnetic resonance physics and safety advice.
Calibration services include: x-ray systems, radiation monitors, UV radiation meters and cabins, and pressure measuring systems. Services are quality accredited to either ISO 9001, ISO 13485 or ISO 17025.
Our services are supported by research, development and innovation activity, with several members of staff having secured competitive research fellowships. Medical devices are designed and constructed in well-equipped workshops that can provide CE marking.
