Changing or cancelling your appointment
- New patients – make or change an appointment online or by telephone.
- Follow-up patients – please contact the chest clinic you were due to attend.
Please tell us as soon as possible so we can give your appointment to another patient. If you need to change an appointment for an investigation, please contact the number given to you by the clinic nurse of that specific department.
We hold outpatient appointments at both hospitals, so please check which hospital you are due at before setting out.
-
What to bring with you
Please make sure you bring all of your current medications with you, or a full list of them if this is not possible.
-
At your appointment
You will be seen by a nurse who will do some basic tests, such as checking your weight, a urine test and possibly a breathing test. A consultant or specialist registrar will then see you.
As this is a teaching hospital, students supervised by qualified staff might be involved in your care. It is valuable training for students and does not affect the quality of your treatment in any way, but please tell us if you do not want them to be present or involved. We will always respect your wishes.
-
After your appointment
At the end of your appointment your doctor will explain the plan for your continued care. If you need any tests or investigations you will be given instructions on how to book these.
We will send a letter to your GP within five working days of your appointment confirming the outcome of your visit.
