A

A&E

Description:
We treat patients who have suffered a recent injury or accident or who have developed a sudden illness. All A&E departments use a priority system where the most seriously ill patients are seen first.

Accident and emergency (children's)

Description:
Our children's accident and emergency service provides care for children aged 16 and under who have suffered a recent injury or accident or who have developed a sudden illness.

Acupuncture community clinic (Gateway Clinic)

Description:
The Gateway Clinic is a specialist acupuncture clinic, offering treatment for patients with chronic long term conditions in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham.

Adult community nursing team

Description:
The adult community nursing team provides a nursing service to adults over the age of 16 who are either housebound or have complex needs.

Adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) service

Description:
A service for adults with congenital heart disease, which is a general term for a range of birth defects that affect the normal workings of the heart.

Adult epidermolysis bullosa (EB) service

Description:
Our epidermolysis bullosa (EB) service provides diagnosis and clinical care of adults with EB, a rare inherited skin disorder which causes the skin of affected people to be excessively fragile and blister at the slightest knock or rub.

Alcohol Care Team

Description:
Our Alcohol Care Team supports patients and their families who have issues with alcohol misuse.

Allergy service (adults)

Information about our allergy service, which has been identified by the Department of Health as a centre of excellence.

Description:
Our children's allergy service is the largest of its kind in Europe, providing families with expert advice, diagnostic tests and practical help within a single visit to our clinic.

Amputee rehabilitation

Description:
The community amputee rehabilitation service is for patients who require a prosthesis (artificial limb) follwing amputation of an upper and/or lower limb.

Amputee Rehabilitation Unit

Description:
The Amputee Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is a 12 bed unit where we provide specialist rehabilitation for adults who have undergone major amputation.

Andrology services

Description:
Information about our andrology services which cover men's health issues including fertility issues and sexual dysfunction.

Antibody incompatible kidney transplant

Description:
Sometimes a patient waiting to have a kidney transplant has antibodies in their blood that would react against the kidney and damage it. However, it is possible to remove or suppress these antibodies in a process known as 'desensitization', which can allow the transplant to take place.

Arrhythmia services

Description:
Arrhythmias are disturbances in heart rhythm. Guy's and St Thomas' provide several clinics for patients with arrhythmia.

Assisted Conception Unit (ACU)

Description:
Our assisted conception unit (ACU) delivers fertility treatment, helping couples having difficulty conceiving.

Description:
Our children and young people's audiology centre is based primarily at St Thomas' Hospital. We also hold clinics across Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham.

Description:
We offer audiology (hearing and balance) services at both Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals.
