Biography

Andrew Lyons is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

He has an interest in dentoalveolar surgery facial pain, head and neck cancer (oncological) surgery, and reconstruction.

He is a member of the Guy’s and St Thomas' head and neck cancer team providing specialist cancer services for south London.

He has run a number of international courses and conferences at Guy’s Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons. He is a senior examiner in the intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). He is past president of his section at the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM).

Andrew is currently conducting a national study into the role of genomics in determining the side effects of radiotherapy to the head and neck.

Education and training

Andrew Lyons graduated from the University of London in 1990, and trained in maxillofacial and head and neck surgery on the south coast rotation.

Publications

Andrew has published over 25 original articles in peer reviewed medical journals and has authored chapters in 3 authoritative Maxillofacial Surgery textbooks.
